Practice News – January 2024

Cervical Cancer Awareness Week (22nd January – 28th January)

Cervical cancer mostly affects women under the age of 45. Almost all cervical cancers are linked to infections with certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV). The NHS now offers vaccination against many types of HPV. If you’re under 25 and you missed having the vaccination when you were aged 12-13, then you may be eligible for immunisation.
Prescription queries line
Please note that from the 2nd of December our prescription queries line changed to opening between 10am and 12pm only.  You can still email us or use the website to send a message or pop in and leave a message.
Non attendance of appointments
In December 2023 we had 124 patients who did not attend their appointment.   We encourage patients to cancel their appointments when they know they are unable to attend so that we can give it to another patient who needs it.

Patient Participation Group
The PPG was formed in July 2011 to improve patient feedback and involvement in the development of services at Highfield Surgery. The group comprises both patients and practice members, and meets four times a year. It acts as “critical friend” to the Surgery, and is an important point of contact between patients and the practice.
If you are interested in becoming a member please pop to our PPG page for more information and fill out the form: Patient Participation Group « Highfield Surgery (highfieldsurgeryblackpool.nhs.uk)
