Veterans
Veterans get priority to NHS services for “service related conditions” and should experience no disadvantage in accessing health care services for acute illnesses. A veteran is someone who has served in the British Armed Forces (Regular or Reserve) for at least one day. Veterans also include any member of the Merchant Marine who has served in a war zone. This includes crew from convoys in World War 2 and more recently in the Falklands conflict and Gulf Wars.

Please give us the paperwork that your military medical centre gave you, including any medical records: If you’ve recently left the forces, it is important to do this to help ensure your military health record transfers to your NHS health record. This will give your GP information on your health and ensure that any ongoing care and treatment is continued.
By telling us that you’re a veteran, we can make sure that you get the care you need.
Fill in our form to let us know that you are a veteran.
