Requests for expedite letters

We cannot affect hospital waiting lists.

Unfortunately GPs have no control over where you are on the waiting list.

Expedite letters do not have any influence over the waiting list.  Highfield surgery receives multiple requests for expedite letters everyday which reduces the number of appointments available.

Please be aware that the hospital will contact you every 12 weeks that you are on the waiting list to see whether you still require an appointment.  If you are waiting for an inpatient surgical appointment and your condition has worsened, a further clinical review by a hospital specialist will take place.

In the meantime if your symptoms become more severe, please contact the specialists secretary.  Contact details will be on any correspondence from the hospital.

Tests ordered by the hospital will be followed up by the hospital.
